Eligibility
To be considered for the $1,000 Dr. Lynn Puana Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Military Status: Must be a U.S. Military Veteran (Active duty, Reserves, or National Guard veterans who have completed their service are eligible).
- Academic Status: Must be currently enrolled or officially accepted as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university within the United States.
- Career Path: Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree following a career path in the military.
- Agreement: Must agree to the terms and conditions of the essay contest.

Write Your Essay: Prepare a 500–1,000 word essay responding to the following prompt:
“Describe a significant challenge or transition you faced while moving from a career in the military to civilian life. How did you navigate this experience, and how will your undergraduate education help you build a stronger future?”
Verify Your Status: Have proof of your veteran status and proof of undergraduate enrollment/acceptance ready (you will be asked to verify this if you are chosen as the winner).
